TEXAS' EXISTING HOME SALES, PRICES DROP
TEXAS (Real Estate Center) – A total of 19,101 existing homes were sold in
Texas last month, a 20.4 percent decline from May 2008, according to MLS
data compiled by the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University. The
median price dropped 0.5 percent to $149,900 during the same period, and
the state finished the month with a 7.3-month inventory of existing homes.

Nationally, sales of existing single-family homes last month were up 2.4
percent compared with May 2008, according to the National Association of
Realtors. Sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.77 million.
At $173,000, the median sales price was down 16.8 percent from a year
earlier. Inventory was at 9.6 months.
